Wiener Ecke Manteuffel (OmeU)

Monday, 9.6., 20:30 h
in presence of the filmmaker Florian Schewe

Documentary, D 2014, 91 min

Florian Schewe’s 2014 Achtung Film Festival winner for best documentary gives us an intimate, honest view into the lives of Dijana and Pat, who fell in love in Berlin at the corner of Wiener Straße and Manteuffelstraße (Wiener Ecke Manteuffel) in 1991 and have lived out what would be considered a quintessential Kreuzberg romance, except for the fact that both have been diagnosed with AIDS. Filmed over three years (2009–2012) with great empathy by the director, the film charts the trials and tribulaions faced by Pat as he deals with both everyday tasks and deepseated issues such as reconnecting with a family with a dark and enigmatic past. Underscored by the couple’s deep bond, powerful dialogues invite reflection on gratitude and love. Asserting a gentle victory over circumstance, the film is an ode to energy, humour and endurance.

Presented by Exberliner in cooperation with realeyz.tv, the screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director and complimentary wine.
